Squash Club Championships 2012

This year’s competition was held in May. The events were the Main Championship, Over 40s plus, Handicap championships and the plate events. This consisted of 35 matches played over a period of two weeks. In these two weeks there were a number of great games going to the wire and some surprise wins and some very tired legs.

In the age groups, there was not as many entries between the over 40s, over 50s and over 60s, so we decided to merge them all together to make up the over 40s plus championships. The top two seeding’s Nick Peel and Steve Pusey both made it to the finals with Nick becoming the winner.

The handicap plate finals were played by Roger Sulley and Daniel Sweeney, unfortunately for Dan, Roger just had to many points head start, Roger the winner.

The Handicap as always produces some great games from all standards of squash. Lewis Ryall the club No.1 couldn’t handle the -50 handicap, whereas the likes of Steve Pusey and Alastair McMeckan reached the finals. The two both played off the same handicap -10 making this a great final. In the end Alastair was to be to strong for Steve and becoming the handicap champion.

The Main plate finals had Graham Edwards against Steve Pusey, his third final of the day and this final Steve got the winning result.

James McMeckan and Lewis Ryall played the main final championships. This was always going to be a good game, but with the skill and fitness of Lewis, James was always going to struggle, with Lewis winning 3-1 to become club champion once again.
