Smit 102* puts Bromley back to winning ways.

Hayes 1st XI vs Bromley CC 1st XI

Hayes won the toss and chose to bat first in slightly overcast conditions. They started slow but steady putting on 54 for the first wicket. Once Bromley got the breakthrough, wickets came regularly until Liam Buttery and overseas player Hayden Walsh put on 50 for the 7th wicket. The hosts managed to score 178/9 in 50 overs as Walsh top scored with 71. Imran the pick of the bowlers picking up 3 for 33 in 10 overs. Matt Smit and skipper James Butterfill both bowled 10 overs for 25 and 18 respectively keeping the run rate very low.

Bromley went with a different approach opening the batting with Imran Qayyum and Shavawn Cunningham but didn't seem to help as Bromley were 34-2 early onb_440_0_16777215_00___images_matts.jpeg. Matt Smit came in at three this week and took control of the game scoring 102* and  putting on a partnership of 115 with Yasir Arafat who scored 31* to win the game in 39.2 overs bowled. The first team back to winning ways coming up to fourth on the table going into the second half of the season this weekend. The 1st XI face The Mote away.
