Yasir Arafat

We are delighted to announce that, having tried on previous occasions and failed, we have finally managed to get Yasir Arafat registered to play for Bromley in the Kent Premier League for 2016.

Yasir is no stranger to Bromley Cricket Club. He can often be found bowling in the nets and has previously done coaching with our Juniors.

Yasir has a fantastic cricketing pedigree, having represented Pakistan 27 times in all formats of the game, and is one of the only 10 Pakistan cricketers to take 5 wickets on Test debut, a feat he performed at Bangalore in 2007 against India, where his victims including the prolific Rahul Dravid and V V S Laxman. In T20 he is up there with the best. His tally of 277 wickets leaves him ranked 3rd in the all time list just behind Lasith Malinga (299) and Dwayne Bravo (303).

Amongst his many other claims to fame are his super over in the Big Bash whilst playing for The Perth Scorchers, when he restricted the Sydney Sixers to a single run.

This coming season Yasir will be playing for Somerset in white ball cricket, and we are hoping that, professional commitments aside, he will be able to commit to playing for us when he can.

I trust you will all join with me and welcome Yasir to our Club. We are very fortunate to have someone with his expertise and experience come into our fold.
